E-commerce Expo 2018 has come and gone (Sept. 26th and 27th at Olympia London) and the Trusted Shops team had a great time. London is a great city year round, but when the sun is shining, nothing beats the Smoke! If you came through this year, then you know what happened and hopefully got some great insights in the world of e-commerce. If you didn’t make it this year, let’s see what you missed!
With over 12,000 e-commerce, marketing, and advertising professionals, 200 vendors, and 275 speakers in 11 theatres, the numbers tell you one thing: there were a lot of great people to meet and a lot of information to take in.
Some of the highlights included keynotes from CMO at IBM Watson Commerce, Russell Scherwin, as well as Seth Elison, Executive VP and President, Europe, Levi’s to name a few. Theatres were split into different categories such Content Marketing & Experience, Delivery & Logistics, Customer & Personalisation, Cross Border, etc.
Our very own Naveen Aricatt gave a speech about GDPR and cross border ecommerce at the Cross Border Theatre. She talked about what actions a typical business needs to take in order to become GDPR compliant.
“Even though the deadline has passed, a lot of small businesses still haven’t prepared their businesses for these new regulations. The grace period for businesses to comply won’t last forever though.”
-Barbara Brunelli, Sales Director UK
Furthermore, she introduced Trusted Shops’ newest product, the GDPR Protection, an easy-to-use tool that helps your business follow the regulations set forth by the GDPR and helps your business create the record of processing activities that the ICO can demand from businesses at any time.
“Whether or not Brexit happens, GDPR is still relevant for many businesses, especially those doing cross-border businesses. For those companies, compliance is especially important.”
-Naveen Aricatt, Legal Expert UK
And perhaps our favourite part of the expo was having the opportunity to chat with some of our partners as well, such as FutureShop, LifeLabTesting, SlimCenter, and ShyToBuy. It’s always nice to meet up in person and hear about their experiences with our products! Of course, we had the great opportunity to meet some prospective new clients that will take advantage of our trust-solutions in the future.
Maybe you had the opportunity to chat with either Barbara, Scott, Olivier, Karim, Veronika or Alon.
All in all, it was a great time. We learned a lot about the newest developments and trends in e-commerce and met a lot of great people! We hope to see you next year!
